5/8/00: This is the day that i got my Ball Python Ozzy. He is very inqusitive and explored his new home. He hasn't found the entrance to his flower pot hide yet, i'll have to show him it after he settles down and has his fisrt feed. He yawned a couple of times...I was worried so I asked the Ball python forum and they told me it's not unusuall for them to do it after a meal or every now and then for no reason....which was a relief!
*6/8/00*: He still hasn't found the entrance to his hide! I fed him two fluffs! He took the first one on the 3rd strike, I thought that he might want another fluff so I decided to get another and put it in his hide to attract him into it, it didn't work so I just gave it to him. He took it first strike and coiled up around it and stayed coiled for about 3mins. I'm real glad that he's a good eater! They can somtimes be picky eaters but not this one!
9/8/00: When I look at his head it seems to look like a gem with a 'mother of pearl' look to it, it looks real cool! I don't know wether this is due to him being in a shed cicle but I havent seen his eyes turn murky so I came to the conclusion that this is a usuall look for him. He seems to like the camera, because when i'm just about to press the shutter he looks towards me and stops, as if he knew that he needed to stay still for me to take the photo. I still need to get them processed.
10/8/00: When I get him out at first he doesn't move alot but after awhile he starts sticking his nose into absolutly everything! I let him slither around on the floor and he shoots off looking for things to climb on. He also loves to sunbath on the floor. I took some photos of him today except this time I took them with a digital camera so that I could put them quickly and easily onto my website. He looks great in the pics but not as good as in real life! I usually handle him for about 15-30mins in the morning and about the same in the evening. This has made him really tame.
*13/8/00*: He was handled before being fed which I think stressed a bit so when it came to feeding him he was reluctant to do so. I managed eventually to get him to strike the fluff and constrict it for a bit but he had only got it by the paw and let it go and didn't continue to feed. After a while I tried again dangling the fluff with the tweezers in front of his nose and he struck hard completely balling up around the fluff, but he also had hol of the tweezers, they were part the way in his mouth so I gently pulled them out and he continued to eat. He ate it bottom first which I tought was unusual. I tried him later on the second fluff but he didn't want it so I had to re-freeze it for tomorow.
14/8/00: I left the second fluff til today to feed it to him, I had to put it back into the freezer so I didn't waste anything.(luckily yesterday he didn't hurt himself on the tweezers...which had got me worried). So I fed him the second fluff. this time he took it first strike with no fuss. But again he ate it bottom first, wierd!
15/8/00: I looked in the tank today to get ozzy out and noticed that he had done a poo. It was really tiny and very dry with one end white and the other grey/black. It was about 1cm long and about 1/2cm thick and wide. I shall keep a record of when he poos and the size of the poo. Sound disgusting but it's interesting to me.
